Hero WOD “Morrison” is dedicated to U.S. Army Specialist Scott Morrison, a 23-year-old soldier from Blue Ash, Ohio. He was assigned to the 584th Mobility Augmentation Company, 20th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, based out of Fort Hood, Texas.

Specialist Morrison was tragically killed on September 26, 2010, from injuries sustained the day prior when insurgents attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He is survived by his father Donald, mother Susan, brother Gary, and sister Katie.

This WOD honors his courage, service, and the sacrifices made by military personnel and their families.

Hero WOD “Perez” is dedicated to Second Lt. Emily Jazmin Tatum Perez, a trailblazing U.S. Army officer and West Point graduate who was tragically killed in combat on September 12, 2006, in Al Kifl, Iraq.

Perez was the first female African-American officer in U.S. military history to die in combat and the first female West Point graduate to fall in the Iraq War. She was an exceptional athlete, excelling in sprinting, gymnastics, and power cleans, and loved movements such as double-unders, pull-ups, squats, and sprinting. Her dedication, courage, and service earned her the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and numerous other commendations.

She is survived by her parents, Daniel and Vicki, her brother Kevyn, and countless friends and classmates. This WOD celebrates her strength, athleticism, and legacy.

The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) replaced the Army Physical Fitness Test in October 2020. Designed to better assess combat readiness, it evaluates strength, power, endurance, and agility—all critical for soldiers performing physically demanding tasks.

Active-duty soldiers began record testing in October 2022, while National Guard and Reserve members started in October 2023. The ACFT consists of six events, each simulating real-world military physical tasks. All events must be completed in under 50 minutes.

A graduate of the 48th Game Warden Academy, Warden Hurst is survived by his wife Amanda, their son, his parents, and his brother. This WOD honors his dedication, bravery, and the life he lived serving and protecting his community. The movements and repetitions are symbolic: 48 represents his graduating class, and 3 represents his family—his wife, son, and himself.
